Bowmore Legend whiskey matures in American bourbon barrels and is produced at the Bowmore distillery on the island of Islay, Scotland.
Distillery:
Established in the eponymous town on the coast of Loch Indaal, Bowmore, founded in 1779, is the oldest distillery on the island of Islay. Cellar No. 1 has largely contributed to its reputation both by the quality of the barrels it contains and by its exceptional location. It is in fact located below sea level, the dike acting as a wall. The distillery has also distinguished itself by its medium-peated bottlings and its finishing in special barrels which have earned it much praise. Still operating today in compliance with traditions, its barley is partially malted on site.
